State Governor Sullivan Chime, who returned to the country on November
10 after a holiday since September 19, was rushed back to an undisclosed
country few hours after his return.
But Government House sources said the governor is in town and has not resumed because his leave has not expired.
No reason was given for his hurried return journey abroad.
But his prolonged stay sparked off speculations that he was hospitalised in an Asian country for an undisclosed illness.
Deputy Governor Sunday Onyebuchi was sworn as the acting governor before Chime started his annual vacation.
It was learnt that the governor’s vacation will not end until the first week of December.
But another source said the governor was rushed back abroad following alleged complications from his illness.
But it was not clear what the nature of the illness is.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Chukwudi Achife, could not make a categorical statement on the matter.
He said a statement would soon be issued on it.
