Hassan Hadejia Buried In Kaduna

Associates, family members and sympathisers yesterday paid their last respect to the late Alhaji Hassan Hadejia, who was buried in Kaduna.
Among the dignitaries were former military president, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, former head of state, Gen. Abdussalami Abubakar, Galadiman Kano, Alhaji Tijjani Hashim, Mohammed Abacha, Alhaji Ibrahim Shekarau, former governor of Kano Sate, Air Vice Marshal Hamza Abdullahi, and Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello.
Curiously, Hadejia and one of his wives, Tasidi, who died in Egypt during a brief illness, were simultaneously buried in Kaduna and Egypt yesterday.
At the burial ceremony in Kaduna, one of his nephews, Alhaji Abubakar Hassan, told LEADERSHIP WEEKEND that the death of the duo, though painful, was designed by Allah.
He said he was among those mentored by the late Hadejia, stressing that the deceased was a father to all, irrespective of their family background and religion.
“Once you were serious about life, whether you were related to the late Shettima or not, but had access to him, you were automatically a member of his immediate family. He was very generous and abhorred sectionalism. When I came to Kaduna in 1964, then I was in Primary Four, Alhaji Hadejia took me up and never stopped showing interest in my well-being until he died,” he said.
Abubakar refuted speculations that late Shettima died from the shock he received from the passage of his wife, adding that he was sick before Hajiya Tasidi passed on.
