AGAINST the rumours doing the rounds that the Olubadan-in-Council is not happy supporting the candidacy of the Oyo State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, during the run-up to the 2011 election, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Samuel Odulana, has said Ibadan is not regretting voting for Ajimobi.
Oba Odulana, speaking through the Ekaarun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Eddy Oyewole, at a public hearing on constitution review at Akinyele Local Government Area secretariat, Moniya, on Saturday, said he remained unperturbed on his decision to support Governor Ajimobi.
He said the Olubadan-in-Council carefully studied the aspirants to the post and their antecedents, adding that after careful observation, it resolved to support the ambition of Ajimobi.
The traditional ruler said the rot which Ajimobi met on the ground in the state was much, adding that the reform being embarked upon by his administration, though currently hard on the people, was necessary.
“The Olubadan-in-Council, after carefully observing all the aspirants for the post of Oyo State governor, concluded that Ajimobi, who is our son, remains the most qualified, giving his antecedent. We did not regret supporting Ajimobi to become the governor of Oyo State,” the traditional ruler said.
Recalling the state of the Ogunpa river and outbreak of cholera as well as other communicable diseases in the state before Governor Ajimobi took over, the Olubadan said that the situation had since changed.
