THE deceased former governor of Oyo State, Alhaji Lamidi Adesina, has been described as “a great politician, who lived and died working for the people of the state.”Ondo State governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, said this on Saturday evening, when he visited the family of the late Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) leader at his Lam Adesina Close, Felele, Ibadan residence, in company with the Oyo State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
Mimiko further described the late Lam as a fine grass roots politician, who gave his best to the people, adding that he was devastated by the news of his demise.
While apologising for his inability to visit Ibadan earlier, Mimiko lamented that a man with an open heart, who never discriminated against anybody on any account was gone.
He recalled that the late Adesina always spoke his mind on any issues and fought against whatever he perceived was injustice during the meeting of the Afenifere/Alliance of the Democracy (AD) in the Ijebu Igbo residence of the late Chief Abraham Adesanya.
“We join the family of Nigerians to mourn the passing away of Chief Lam Adesina, a fine grass-roots politician. He lived and died and worked for his people.
“He exhibited courage in the course of his career. May the good Lord console the family and may his soul rest in perfect peace,” Mimiko said.
Responding on behalf of the family, the son of the deceased, who is also the state Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Adedapo Lam-Adesina, thanked Governor Mimiko for the visit.
