Obama Urged To Increase America’s Partnership With Nigeria

All Nigerian Nationals in Diaspora (ANNID) have called on the U.S. President Barack Obama, to use his second term to increase America’s partnership with President Goodluck Jonathan’s  administration to deal with security, investment and development in Nigeria.
ANNID in a congratulatory message to Obama which was made available to the North America Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in New York on Thursday, said that the partnership would also affect other African nations in general.
The message was signed by Chief Peter Mozie, Global Chairman, Sola Fatoki, Global Secretary, Dr Isaac Ike, Assistant Global Chairman and Chioma Ndubuisi, Global Public Relations Officer.
They urged Obama to continue on his avowed path of making America a more perfect union for the millions of people from all nationalities, racial backgrounds, shades of opinions and religious/political belief who have come to call America home.
ANNID, however, noted that the U.S. president’s appeal cuts across a broad spectrum of America – White, Black, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, rich, poor, gay, straight, men and women.
“It was therefore not surprising to all Nigerian Nationals in the Diaspora that President Obama won 332 electoral votes against Mitt Romney’s 206 electoral votes,’’ ANNID said.
It also said that on June 14, 2012, the Obama signed a new U.S. strategy toward sub-Saharan Africa that reflected the core components and strategic priorities of the U.S. engagement with Africa.
According to the group, the four strategies includes strengthening democratic institutions, boosting economic growth, trade, and investment, advancing peace and security and promoting opportunity and development.
ANNID added that the American general elections of Nov. 6, was a referendum on the first four years of Obama’s presidency, stressing that he came into office in January 2009 and inherited a nation that was at cross roads in several spheres. (NAN)
