Seven injured as PDP, ACN supporters clash in Ekiti

No fewer than seven persons  were seriously injured in Ado-Ekiti Thursday as supporters of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and those of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) clashed over the pasting of the posters of former governor of the state, Mr Ayo Fayose.
Residents of Ado Ekiti and other towns in the state  had woken up on Thursday to see the posters of Fayose flooding streets with the words” Restoration 2014″.
Fayose who is said to be  warming up to contest the 2014 gubernatorial election in the state under the banner of the PDP.
It was further gathered  that supporters of the former governor  in what appears to be a  per-emptive move had  divided themselves into different groups in different parts of the state to paste the posters
No sooner than those at Irona street in the state capital were about pasting the posters than they were been accosted and subsequently attacked  by some youths suspected to be CAN supporters. But the state government has accused the former governor of violating the Signage law in the state.
According to the state commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation,Mr Funminiyi Afuye said Fayose ought to have sought the authority and clearance from the agency before pasting his posters Afuye further accused the former governor of blowing siren indiscriminately in the state.
