Don Jazzy’s Early Birthday Gift

“I HAVE been contracted by the good people at Samsung to do the theme song for the Africa Cup of Nations. This is an early birthday gift for me. So I thought about it and decided that instead of using one of my known colleagues, why not use one stone to kill plenty birds.”
That was how Don Jazzy explained his reason for a week-long talent hunt for the African Cup of Nations theme song that ended on November 30, 2012 as winners were announced on Monday, December 3, 2012. He said the contestants were in for a win-win situation.
“You stand a chance to win one million naira, while first, second and third runners up get N250, 000 each. The winner gets to sing the official theme song for the Africa Cup of Nations, produced by me, and could be signed on by a record label. Get and learn the chorus of track two from the “Frenzy” Album by D’Prince Wande coal and Don Jazzy.
The essence, he further explained was, “to give upcoming artists a platform to be heard and seen; to share this beautiful opportunity with one of you; and to reward a few talented artists in my own little way. It is also to promote the “Frenzy” Album by D’Prince; to let upcoming artists know that they can start earning money soon whenever their songs or videos are being streamed on TRUSPOT; and I know there are thousands of talented singers like you out there and I am sure record label execs like myself are looking for you.”
