Mentally unstable woman selling ‘pure water’ causes stir in Abuja [PHOTO]

The need for the society to come to the aid of mentally unstable persons was the subject of debate yesterday in the Area 10, Garki in Abuja.
A lady who is likely to be in her twenties, was seen talking to no one in particular as she intermittently screamed at the top of her voice, while carrying some pure water on her head, apparently for sale.
As this reporter walked towards her, she quickly brought out a mobile phone from a black polythene bag. She then tried to make a call, as she pointed to our correspondent saying “I go call police. Go back! Go!”
The incident which occurred in front of the Cyprian Ekwensi Centre for Arts and Culture, halted business activities for about eight minutes as those around including traders, vendors, books and recharge card sellers, okrika (second-hand clothes) dealers, among others watched the “performance” of the unknown hawker in amazement.
A middle aged man selling oranges told DailyPost that it was the second time the lady was causing a spectacle this month. He wondered who her relatives were and why they allowed her to roam about the streets in such condition.

A male bystander, himself a hawker, said: “This kind thing no good. At least make government or some people try to help the girl. I dey feel bad for her,” the worried man added.
