My Husband Behaves Like A Woman, Wife Tells Court

A 38-year-old housewife, Amudatu Nafiu, on Tuesday prayed an Ilorin Area Court to dissolve her marriage to her husband,  Kareem, on the grounds that he  behaves like a woman.
Nafiu  of Okelele area of Ilorin told the court to dissolve the five-year-old marriage because her husband  is “ feminine in nature.”
She said that her husband was the type that kept malice and got easily provoked at every  argument.
“My husband always over reacts to minor issues and changes  his attitudes toward  me and my children when he is provoked,’’ she said.
She accused her husband of being in the habit of talking too much and finding faults even when he was wrong.
The petitioner told the court that their marriage was contracted in 2007 and had produced two children.
“I want an end to this relationship because my husband is not ready to change and take to corrections,’’ she said.
The defendant, however,  objected to his wife’s prayer, saying he still had interest in the marriage.
“My wife always does things that arouse my anger which forces me to blame her and refrain from  talking to her at times,’’ he told the court.
He pleaded with  the court for another date to enable  him to make a reconciliatory move.
The presiding judge, Mr Ibrahim Abdulquadri, adjourned the case to Dec. 24  for continuation of hearing.
