Reckless driving: FRSC takes campaign to mosques, churches

The Federal Road Safety Corps, Itori Unit, Ogun State on Friday and Sunday, took the campaign against dangerous driving and disobedience to traffic rules on highways to mosques and churches in the area.
Addressing Muslim faithful at the Itori Central Mosque and the congregation at the Christ Apostolic Church, Total Area, the unit Commander, Mr. Fatai Bakare, appealed to all motorists to be aware of their various responsibilities while travelling in commercial vehicles.
Bakare stressed that passengers had very important role to play in the efforts aimed at reducing accidents on the highways.
He added that the drivers as well as their vehicles must be thoroughly examined before embarking on any journey.
The FRSC unit commander urged both the Muslim and Christian worshippers to caution drivers whenever they felt they were becoming reckless, saying that if any driver refused to heed correction, he should be reported to the nearest corps official.
Representative of National Union of Road Transport Workers, Mr. Okanlawon Ikubanjo, said lessons learnt would be well digested and taken to other drivers.
Ikubanjo promised that the union would further organise enlightenment workshop to train drivers on the need to be safety-conscious during the festive season and beyond.
