Stop demanding foreign currencies as visa fee, Minister warns embassies

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Olugbenga Ashiru has cautioned embassies and foreign missions in Nigeria against collecting visa payments from Nigerians in foreign currency. He said it is against diplomatic laws for embassies to charge visa fees in any currency other than that of their host country.
The minister also stressed that no form of maltreatment should be given to Nigerians in the process of seeking visas.
The meeting which was a closed door interactive session with the diplomatic corps in Nigeria, was a medium to allay their fears and concerns over the nation’s security challenges.
