AT
last, the present health situation of Governor Danbaba Suntai of Taraba
State who is in Germany undergoing medication following the ill-fated
plane crash of October 25 he was involved in has been made public.
The governor, according to the state’s People’s Democratic Party
(PDP), Victor Bala Kona, “has been discharged from the intensive care
unit and has since been relocated to the ward.”
Kona, whom The Guardian learnt has been in Germany twice to visit the
ailing governor, made this known Friday during the stakeholders and
executive meeting of the party members, which took place at the state
secretariat of the party in Jalingo. He expressed optimism that the
governor would “soon be discharged from the hospital.”
According to him, “though I am not a doctor but from all indication
during my last visit, there is every possibility that he will soon be
discharged from the hospital. His condition has greatly improved and is
responding to treatment.”
Kona who noted that the executive members have mapped out plans to
reposition the party in the state said a standing disciplinary committee
has been constituted to try erring members found guilty of contravening
the provisions of the party’s constitution.
This, according to Kona, would not only catapult the party to greater
height, but would as well instill absolute discipline among members of
the party in the nooks and crannies of the state.
According to Kona, who was visibly elated by the massive turn out of
party stakeholders in the state at the meeting, the committee would be
given the much needed power to bring to book those who go contrary to
the party’s constitution in the state irrespective of the status.
“Let me make it abundantly clear that the party is above every one of us, no matter the position one is occupying and therefore it must be respected as long as we are members of PDP.”
