A 57-year-old man is facing life in prison after he was charged with sodomy for having sex with a dog over a four-month period.Charles Ralph Horton, from Cedar Springs, is accused of having sexual relations with the dog – a lab/shepherd mix – between August and November 2012.
Authorities called the act an ’abominable and detestable crime’.

‘The defendant was a person whose sexual behavior was characterized
by repetitive acts which indicate a disregard of the consequences or the
recognized rights of others,’ court records say.

Horton is being held in the Kent County Jail on $500,000 bond, according to MLive.
If released, he must remain at home on a tethering device, a judge stated at Horton’s arraignment this week.
Horton was previously convicted of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor in Muskegon County in 1991. Records show convictions of burglary and breaking and entering, in the 1980s
