Ogun West PDP rejects Obasanjo, Kashamu factions

Former President Olusegun
Members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun West Senatorial District on Tuesday dissociated themselves from the crises in the sate chapter of the party.
No fewer than four factions of the party exist in the state with the Buruji Kashamu-led group and the rival Senator Dipo Odujirin faction believed to be loyal to former President Olusegun Obasanjo. The two factions are always at loggerheads over the control of the PDP structure in the state.
But the Ogun West PDP, under the aegis of Elders and Youths, at a meeting in Ota, Ado Odo/Ota Local Government, denied any link with any of the factions.
In a communique, the leaders in the zone, including Kunle Salako, Chief Wale Egunleti, Alhaji Ali Ajibode, Mr. Kunle Akinosi and Titus Eweje, urged the factions to embrace “dialogue.”
The communique read in part, “We recognise and embrace dialogue as time honoured veritable conflict resolution mechanism and appeal to all aggrieved stakeholders to shun violence and embrace dialogue, including conflict resolution procedures as stipulated and enshrined in the constitution of the PDP.”
However, the group condemned media attacks on Obasanjo by individuals and groups within the party.
The leaders, who pledged their loyalty to the party, said they would work with the Odujirin-led executive.
Ajibode, who was Commissioner for Forestry during the Gbenga Daniel administration, warned that 2015 would be “elusive” to the PDP if it remains divided.
