THE Presidential Task Force on Power (PTFP) has reached out to those to be affected by outages due to ongoing work on the 330 KV Benin – Onitsha line.
Chairman of the PTFP, Beks Dagogo-Jack, in a statement Thursday urged the communities and the residents to be affected by the outages to be patient with government and see seasons as the development was unavoidable.
He said the Task Force was in alliance with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) contractors and other stakeholders to ensure that the scheduled outage on the Benin-Onitsha 330KV line on January 26 and 27, 2013 would be “as seamless as possible.”
“The two day outage will enable TCN to finalise operations on the long awaited second 330KV circuit. Another contractor, MBH Power will also carry out pre-commissioning tests during this period,” Dagogo – Jack said.
He added: “The PTFP (after detailed evaluation with the TCN team) endorsed the plan knowing that the benefits of energising the long awaited 3rd Benin Onitsha Line amply justify the regrettable inconvenience of two days which shall be limited to the Eastern states and part of Benue State.
”The advantages to be derived from the completion and commissioning of the Benin-Onitsha Line is yet another step towards strengthening our transmission grid’s robustness and will help reduce the frequent incidents of avoidable system collapses.”
