The former governor of Lagos state and National Leader of the
Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the six
ACN governors of Osun, Oyo, Ekiti, Lagos, Edo and Ogun states will be
Ila-Orangun,Osun State,the country home of Chief Bisi Akande this
Wednesday to mark his 74th birthday.
LEADERSHIP also gathered that the leaders of the opposition were among the dignitaries expected to grace the occasion.
Chief Akande, who is National Chairman of the Action Congress of
Nigeria and former Governor of Osun State, will also on Wednesday be
conferred with the Excellence Award of the state chapter of the Nigeria
Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
Addressing a press conference in Osogbo at the weekend, the state
chairman of the NIPR, Mr. Wale Oyekanmi stated that Akande was chosen
for the award considering his achievements while in office as Osun State
Governor between 1999 and 2003.
He noted that the former governor had a record of good service
delivery while serving as the governor of the state, even as he
maintained that members of other political parties in the state
appreciated Akande’s good works.
Extolling the virtues of Akande, the NIPR boss recalled that the
former governor built the state secretariat adjudged as the best in the
country within two years without taking a loan.
“Chief Akande really deserves the honour. In his four-year term as
governor of Osun State, he did more than what he promised the people. He
achieved the unexpected,” he stated
