Niger
State Governor, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has said that Niger State
would continue to be home to all without discrimination based on
indigene and non indigene dichotomy.
He said yesterday while receiving the new Niger State commandant of
the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr Ikemefuna
Donatus at Government House that the state would always remain peaceful because it considered all as indigenes.
He said that security was seen as every body’s personal project and government would continue to give residents of the state equal opportunities to transact their businesses notwithstanding the language they speak.
He therefore charged all residents of the state to remain security
conscious because business and development could not thrive in an
environment of chaos and insecurity.
Aliyu stressed the need to properly articulate the functions of the
NSCDC as a civil organisation to avoid overlapping into that of the
Nigeria Police Force or other security agencies.
Earlier, the Commandant, Mr Ikemefuna Donatus in his remarks said the
organisation was facing challenges of bunkering in three local
governments of Munya, Tafa and Gurara.
While calling
for proper collaboration between the people in the affected areas and
the command to stem the tide, he thanked the state government for
donating almost all the functional vehicles of the corps in the state.
