Cleric, Sheik Muyideen Bello warns leaders against corruption

An Islamic scholar, Sheik Muyideen Bello, has warned the nation’s political leaders to make judicious use of resources given to them. Bello, at the inauguration of a mosque and Quranic school at the Maximum Security Prison, Kirikiri, Lagos, also urged them to be transparent in carrying out their national assignments.
He said, “Government should be truthful and transparent in their dealings if they don’t want us to fail as a nation. We will not be strong and united if we keep deceiving ourselves. There has been the problem of peace in the country because our leaders are not truthful. When leaders are not transparent, you should expect challenges to befall us.
“Our leaders have affected our fortunes to the extent that we have been labelled as liars and irresponsible people. It is painful that people who steal and corrupt the nation go unpunished. If this continues, we will hardily move forward as a nation.”
