Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, has said though
progress was seen in all the states visited by the good governance tour
team so far, there is still room for improvement.
Maku spoke in Asaba, Delta State capital, where he acknowledged, however, that challenges faced by the states varied.
He urged all the states to invest in security, as well as maintenance of law and order, so as to ensure that development thrives in the country.
He said “progress and challenges are not at the same level, because
resources are not at the same level either; some states are as old as
Nigeria itself. We cannot say progress has not been made, but we know we
can do better to achieve greater results.”
Meanwhile, the Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on
Monitoring and Evaluation, Professor Sylvester Monye, said the Edo State
governor, Adams Oshiomhole, might have been quoted out of context. “I
met with Governor Oshiomole at the weekend in Ekiti and he told me some
things about the tour. I am surprised that he would go to the press with
it; I believe he must have been quoted out of context,” he said.
