Former Nigeria captain Nwankwo Kanu says the current squad of players have no idea what they have achieved.
Kanu led the 1996 team that won Olympic gold in Atlanta, a victory
that all but guaranteed legendary status and the former skipper says the
players have no idea of their own achievement.
“I don’t think they realise what they have just done.
“It will take a few years for them to understand what this
achievement means not just to them, but to the country, but I am really
proud of them.”
Kanu says the players have shown that with belief, determination and team work, anything is possible.
“They were not the team with the biggest stars, but they played as a
team, they fought for each other, believed n each other, and they have
now received their reward.”
