Football Supporters Club members are not likely to watch the final of
the Nations Cup this evening because they have been unable to get match
tickets.
President-general of the club Rafiu Ladipo alleged on Saturday that
the Local Organising Committee of the tournament had failed to honour
its agreement with the Nigeria Football Federation to issue about 2000
tickets to its supporters for the match.
“The agreement was that each federation involved in a match would get
at least 2000 tickets. But we are asking for around 300, which is far
lower than the promise but we have been told that all tickets have been
sold on-line,” he said.
“This is a deliberate attempt to deny our team of the needed support
from Nigerians which contravenes the CAF regulation on tickets sales. We
travelled all the way from Nigeria to support our team but we are being
denied of that responsibility even though we are playing in the final,”
Ladipo added.
