PDP group warns Obasanjo against Daniel’s ‘antics’

Olusegun Obasanjo OBJOgun State Peoples Democratic Party Progressive Youth Vanguard on Thursday warned former President Olusegun Obasanjo to be cautious about the “antics” of former governor Gbenga Daniel.
The group, in a statement by its Chairman, Alhaji Mukaila Adebajo, alleged that the former governor was only trying to worm his way to Obasanjo to achieve a selfish and sinister goal.
The group said its advice to Obasanjo was against the backdrop of media reports that some associates of the former governor had brokered peace between him and the former president.
The statement read, “Good as that piece of news might sound to the ear, we, as dutiful children cannot afford to watch and allow our father to be rubbished a second time. The truth is that OGD is never sincere and cannot be trusted.
“Obasanjo himself alluded to this when he said at the Tuesday meeting that although he had forgiven all those who offended him before and during the 2011 elections, he can never trust OGD again. He likened him to a chameleon.
“We recall that the said reconciliatory meeting was to hold during the Easter holiday but OGD never showed up. He suddenly developed cold feet and practically left his associates, such as Chief Niyi Adegbenro, Alhaji Okanlawon Soboyede and Chief Sarafa Tunji-Ishola, among others, in the lurch.”
The group alleged a plot by OGD to warm himself to Obasanjo and then lure the former president’s associates to Labour Party where he had allegedly sent some of his aides.
It added, “This is not hearsay. It is a statement of fact. And we trust that sooner than later, the truth will prevail.”
