An eyewitness, Mutiu Alade, said, “We were all scared as we heard gunshots. We later discovered that a businessman had been gunned down by one of the robbers. One of the men was riding a motorbike while the other attacked the dealer with the gun.
“We learnt that Gbadamosi and a bureau de change operator called Bature, went to change some foreign currency to naira. They were attacked on their way back.
“The bullet hit Gbadamosi in the leg. He struggled to resist the robbers when one of them fired another shot at his knee.”
The state command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Bisi Inobanafor, said, “Investigation shows that some men went to a car shop at Idi Ape area of Ibadan to buy a vehicle. Unknown to the men they were trailed by some robbers.
“The robbers attacked them while trying to bring out money.
“A team of policemen in the area were attracted by gunshots at the scene of the robbery and they engaged the robbers in a gun duel. One of the robbers was shot in the back but they escaped with their bike.
