Police arrest nine over murder of NURTW leader

IBADAN — The Oyo State Police Command has arrested nine suspects foralleged involvement in the killing of one of the leaders of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Rafiu Adebayo, in Ibadan.
Adebayo  was reportedly killed at Apaana, Foko area on Sunday.
The arrest of the suspects was confirmed, yesterday, by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olabisi Ilobanafor.
The suspects names as given by the police include Kazeem Adegbite, Azeez Adebayo, Saheed Ismaila, Ikudaisi Kudus, Abibu Ogundeji, Adio Saka, Aliyu Adejumo, Saheed Dauda and Kasimu Olaniyi.
According to her, the suspected mastermind of the attack, Moshood Oladokun, believed to be behind the mask tagged Ekugbemi masquerade, was still at large.
“We like to advise him to turn himself in now because he can only hide, he cannot run. We will fish him out soon if he refuses to show up,” Ilobanafor said.
The suspected hoodlum allegedly used the cover of the egungun festival to perpetrate their act.
The deceased was said to have run into the crowd of one of the popular masquerades called Iponriku, where the hoodlum  attacked him close to his house.
He was said to have been stabbed in four different areas of his head.
