Terror suspect nabbed with N3m – As army uncovers bomb factory

MEN of the 23 Armoured Brigade, Yola, in Adamawa State, have arrested a 24-year-old man, Ibrahim Mohammed, with about N3 million, $200, a pistol and some rounds of ammunition in one of their operations in Mubi.
Mohammed, who was intercepted at one of the military check points on Maiha-Mubi Road, could not explain his mission and how he came to be in possession of such amount of money and arms and ammunition found on him.
The Brigade Commander, Brigadier-General John Nwaoga, while parading the suspect before newsmen on Friday, disclosed that a pistol was recovered from him while the money was hidden inside the doors of his Honda car with registration No. Lagos CF 26SMK.
His arrest and further interrogation later led the military patrol team into uncovering a house used in the manufacturing of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) at a house on the outskirts of the town.
The soldiers found on the floor of the building various chemicals as well as empty cans used in the manufacture of explosives
While conducting newsmen round the “bomb factory”, the team further discovered grenades, police uniform, rifle, pots and some canisters of tear gas.
The commander, however, noted that any group or groups of people peddling false and malicious information about the operations of the military and other security operatives in the state are not doing the nation any good.
“We will, as a force, do everything possible to continue to protect lives and property of the citizens until total peace returns to the security-challenged areas of the nation.”
He solicited for the cooperation and support of the media in the face of prevailing security insurgencies nationwide.
