The daring attack on the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Dr. Ado Bayero, on Saturday, has been described as a violent assault on the nation’s respected traditional institutions by Senate President, David Mark.
Mark, in a statement issued today by his Special Adviser on Media and
Publicity, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, condemned the attack, saying he was
saddened by the renewed violence in Kano and some other states.
According to the statement, Mark urged the security agencies in the
country to once again rise to the challenge of these gruesome acts by
bringing the perpetrators to book.
Mark, who was quoted as lamenting the incessant incidents of gun attacks and the activities
of the dreaded Boko Haram sect who always target innocent individuals,
also called on any Nigerians having information about the hideouts of
these insurgents, to make such available to the security agencies.
Calling on those behind the dastardly act to sheath their swords and
embrace peace in the interest of the nation, the Senate president said:
“If their designs and actions are genuine, they should embrace the
dialogue option canvassed by every notable Nigerian.”
Mark commiserated with the families of the driver and guards that
were killed in the attack and admonished them to take heart and leave
vengeance to God.
The senate president then advised the emir not to relent in his
selfless contributions to his immediate subjects, Kano State and the
nation in general.
