Groups advise clerics to preach unity

mosque-and-churchThe Muslim Ummah of the South West Nigeria and Muslim Association of Nigeria have advised religious leaders to emphasise the need for understanding and unity in the country in their messages.
The groups gave the advice during a courtesy visit by MUSWEN delegation to the leadership of MAN on Sunday in Lagos.
According to the President of MUSWEN, Prof. Dawud Noibi, it is necessary for religious institutions to strengthen the teachings of mutual understanding for the country to live in peace.
He said, “The country should operate on a platform that will enhance understanding of various religions.
“Leaders must be strong in bringing unity in social, economic and political platforms. Our ethnic, political and religious leaders will be successful if they are conscious that they are accountable to God.”
President, MAN, Alhaji Yusuf Sulaimon, emphasised the need for Nigerians to embrace peace, saying that was the only way the country could attain rogress.
He said, “It is important to note that we are one and the unity of faith is important to the development of the country.”
