Police Arrest Suspected Rapist Of Women At Gunpoint

A 25-year-old alleged rapist and armed robber Goddy (surname withheld) who specialises in raping women at gun-point with his gang members after robbing them of their belongings has been arrested by detectives at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Asaba, Delta State. Police spokesman in the state, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP)Famous Ajieh, who confirmed the arrest of the suspect to LEADERSHIP SUNDAY, disclosed that the suspect and his gang members had been terrorising Obiaruku and its environs before nemesis caught up with him.
According to him, the arrest of the suspect was made possible following the report made to the police detectives by their last victim whom they (gang) member allegedly raped and robbed of N40,000 at gun point.
It was gathered that their victim, Stella (surname withheld) was allegedly subjected to sexual torture after she was disposed offher N40,000.
Ajieh said the suspect upon interrogation admitted committing the crime after he was identified by the victim on Friday as the person who robbed and raped her at gunpoint.
Items recovered from the suspect, the police spokesman said, included a locally made gun and live bullets, adding that investigation was ongoing to bring the suspects to book.
Meanwhile, the state police command has commenced the demolition of buildings used as hideouts by kidnap suspects.
Ajieh said the exercise started at Eboh-Orogun where a building said to have been owned by one Stephen (surname withheld) now on the run was demolished. He said that the said Stephen had been on the wanted list of the police in connection with kidnap activities in the building.
