MORE inconsistencies have been discovered in the reports
submitted by the police and the State Security Service (SSS) on the
killing of former Principal Private Secretary to Governor Adams
Oshiomhole, Olaitan Oyerinde.
One of these was the difference in the telephone records of both security agencies.
In the report
submitted during investigation at the House of Representatives last
month, both the police and SSS got the two telephone numbers of the late
Oyerinde correctly as: 08035137162, 07051676455 and that of his wife,
Funke, as 08066278666, however, there was a difference, in the records
of his International Mobile Equipment Identity, otherwise known as IMEI
and PIN number.
Further checks revealed that the IMEI records of the telephone
numbers of Oyerinde, which the SSS said it recovered and handed over
along with its suspects, were different from the ones the police listed
in their report.
In the presentation, the Director-General of the SSS said “mobile
forensic analyses of the phones belonging to the victim, his wife,
brother-in-law, Adeyinka Oletubo, who was staying with them. The phone
numbers are: 08035137162 belonging to Oyerinde and 07051676455 belonging
to Oyerinde, 08066278666, Funke and 08033058580 belonging to Adeyinka.
“The call data records of the late Oyerinde’s GSM line 07051676455.
The international mobile equipment identity phone 35469504311887 was
obtained.
“The CDR of Funke Oyerinde’s line 08066278666 registered as Labake
Oyerinde with international mobile equipment identity number
35546504883586 was obtained from MTN Nigeria Network.
“Also from this network, the CDR of Oyerinde’s MTN line of
08035137162 with international mobile identity number 357696041479100
was obtained. The investigation team phone forensic analyses reveal that
Oyerinde’s phone, with international mobile identity number
35469504311887, was a Blackberry 9800 and was used in May 5, 2012. He
was killed on May 4; his phone came up on May 5 by one Hassan Bashiru
with GSM number 08035555536 between 1336 hours and 1720 hours in Benin
City, Edo State.”
But in a contrasting report, the police gave
the IMEI records of Oyerinde’s 08035137162 as 356841048771569 with PIN
number 28E435B2 and that of his 07051676455 as 354695043258440.
The police also gave the IMEI record of Oyerinde’s wife’s line, 08066278666 as 355465048835860 with PIN number 26A284FB.
In his reaction
to the contrasting reports, a principal suspect arrested by the police,
whose innocence was affirmed by the courts of law, Reverend David
Ugolor, dismissed the police report.
