A 67-year-old man, Mr. Arinze Ernest, has been arraigned before Chief Magistrate’s Court, Yaba, Lagos for allegedly stealing N486,000 belonging to a security outfit at Yaba.
The police said Ernest committed the crime on February 11 at the Lagos office of Proton Security Service.
The charge sheet read, “That you, Arinze Ernest, male, on February 11, 2013 at about 1210 hours at No 9, Jibowu Street, Yaba in the Yaba Magisterial District did steal the sum of four hundred and eighty six thousand naira, (N486,000.00) belonging to Proton Security Service Section Yaba Lagos and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 285 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011”
Ernest said he was not guilty when the charges were read to him.
His defence counsel asked for his bail on liberal terms.
The magistrate, Mrs. Folarin Williams accepted to grant him bail upon thepayment of N50,000.
The case was adjourned till May 21.
