The police prosecutor, Mr Falade Oso, told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on March 30 at Erijiyan-Ekiti in Ekiti West LocalGovernment Area of the state.
“Awe and the four others were arraigned in court over the killings about a month ago at Erinjiyan-Ekiti, his home town. It was at a ceremony where some people believed to be members of the ACN were set to defect to theopposition party, the PDP,” he said.
Oso said that the accused persons conspired together to commit felony to wit murder. He also said the accused murdered one Ayo Jeje, Juliana Adewumi, Gbenga Ogundana and Ayo Ogbudu Jeje.
Oso added that on the same date, time and place, the accused also attempted to murder one Gbenga Adewumi.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened section 320 of the CriminalCode Cap C16, Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria, 2012.
The defence counsel, Mr Adetunji Oso, said the accused had been granted bail at the police station and pleaded that the court should allow the bail to continue.
He added that since the case file of the accused had not been forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice, they should be allowed to continue to enjoy police bail.
The prosecutor, however, objected to the bail application, saying that they should be remanded in prison custody.
Chief Magistrate Richard Adegboye ruled that the accused should continue to enjoy the earlier bail granted at the police station.
Adegboye, who warned the accused against jumping bail, adjourned the case till 25 May.
