ACN hails police for quizzing Ladoja

former Oyo State Governor, Rashidi Ladoja

The Action Congress of Nigeria in Oyo State has hailed the police for interrogating former Governor Rashidi Ladoja over the recent attack on some Accord Party members  by hoodlums in Ibadan.
Ladoja, in a petition to President Goodluck Jonathan, had demanded that the police anti-crime outfit in the state be proscribed to stop the state government from using it as an instrument of terror.
However, ACN, in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Dauda Kolawole, on Thursday, said the fact about the perpetrators of violence that greeted the AP meeting in Ibadan would soon emerge.
The statement said, “A national newspaper had reported on Thursday that the Accord Party leader was quizzed by the Oyo State Police Command in relation to the violence, on Wednesday.
“This would avail the police investigators the opportunity to get to the root of the mayhem.”
It added, “We are pleased with the Oyo State Police Command for its sense of judgment and for not caring whose ox is gored in the bid to rid the state of criminals and criminal elements.
“As Ladoja had levelled allegations against the crime-fighting outfit he should be made to offer concrete and genuine back-up to his claim. The era of crying wolf for political reasons has passed in Oyo State.”
But the AP in a statement on Thursday by Ladoja’s media aide, Lanre Latinwo, said, “The former governor was at the state Criminal Investigation Department to honour the invitation of the police boss.
He said, “The meeting was brief and it was not an interrogation. The discussion centred around the attack on Ladoja on May 3, which was linked to some ACN stalwarts in the state.
“We hereby implore members of the public to disregard the falsehood that pass around and through the ACN propaganda mill”
