Eid-el-kabir: Lagos lawmakers urge peaceful coexistence, tolerance

Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Adeyemi Ikuforiji
Some Lagos State lawmakers in the National Assembly have urged Nigerians and residents of the state to continue to embrace peaceful coexistence, sacrifice and tolerance for the development of the country.
The lawmakers, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, representing Lagos East Senatorial District; Mr. Babajide Akinloye, Eti-Osa Federal Constituency; Mr. Dayo Bush-Alebiosu, representing Kosofe Federal Constituency made the call on Thursday in their Eid-el-Kabir messages.
Ashafa enjoined Muslims to use the Eid-el-kabir celebration to  pray for themselves and the nation.
He said, “We we should all reflect on the ideals of good living, which all religion preach.”
Akinloye, however, urged the leadership and their followership in the country to reflect on the virtues of obedience and willingness of sacrifice.
He said, “This is a time for all of us to have a sober reflection and think of what we can do for Nigeria, and not what Nigeria can do for us.”
Bush-Alebiosu said if Nigerians could emulate the virtues of sacrifice and tolerance as displayed by Prophet Ibrahim, Nigeria would be great.
He said. “May the lessons in this Sallah inspire greater patriotism in us.
“I urge leaders at all levels to always promote social justice in all their deeds.”
