Lam: Family holds third day prayer •As govt sets up funeral committee


AS part of events marking the rites of passage of a former governor of Oyo State, Alhaji Lam Adesina, a third day prayer was, on Tuesday, held for the late leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) by his family.
In a lecture at the carnival-like occasion, the Chief Imam of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) mosque, Alhaji Azeez Ariyayo said the life led by the deceased should be emulated by politicians and non-politicians as well.
He described Alhaji Adesina as a responsible politician who never allowed emotion to prevail over reason and prioritised the wellbeing of the people in his programme, adding that he was also a committed Muslim and a caring father to all.
The Islamic cleric urged politicians to learn from Alhaji Adesina’s belief in peace, justice and fairness, without which progress and development could not be achieved.
Also speaking, the Imam of Gbademosi Olowoporoku Adesina Memorial Mosque, Felele, Ibadan, where the deceased worshipped until his death, Alhaji Musiliudeen House, Alhaja Monsurat Sunmonu, who made this known in a statement on Tuesday, said Governor Abiola Ajimobi, members of his cabinet and close associates of are expected to grace the session.
According to the speaker, the extraordinary session has become necessary in view of the contributions of the former governor in the development of the state in all facets, adding that the session will be a moment of tributes to the Great Lam.
