THE acting British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Gile Lever, has
announced that the applications for Chevening Scholarships, the global
scholarship programme of the United Kingdom (UK) government, are now
open and the deadline for submission of applications is December 14.
He
stated this in a press statement made available to newsmen by David
Atile of the Press and Public Affairs Section of the High
Commi-ssioner’s Office, Abuja, on Thursday.
The scholarships
are funded by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner
organisations in over 100 countries worldwide and will support about 700
students this year.
The scholarships are awarded for a one-year Master’s degree in any subject and at any university in the United Kingdom.
“The
scholarships aim to support UK foreign policy priorities, by creating
lasting positive relationships with future leaders and decision makers
around the world,” the release said
