FORMER
chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Oyo
State, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, popularly known as Auxiliary, has said
there was no tension in the state, even as he denied media reports that
he had reconciled with Alhaji Lateef Akinsola Tokyo, in the presence of
some politicians, saying: “I did not hold any meeting with any political
leader or NURTW leader. It is a rumour from the enemies of progress.”Auxiliary, who spoke in a telephone conversation with Sunday Tribune, said he would never allow himself to be used by anyone or group to bring down the administration of Governor Abiola Ajimobi, noting that he was not in any way opposed to the administration of Governor Ajimobi, as he had been praying for his success and that of the current leadership of Oyo NURTW.
He said as a NURTW member who is only knowledgeable in handling transport business, he had vowed never to have anything to do with politics and politicians.
Lamidi, who described report of tension in the state as unfounded, denied attending a clandestine meeting in Abuja at the instance of some politicians from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) two weeks ago, explaining that what he went to Abuja for was to seek his freedom which, he said, God had helped him to achieve and he had been reunited with his family after about two years of being declared wanted by the police.
“If anybody wants to hear from the police what I went there for, the person should go and enquire from the Force Headquarters in Abuja or the state police command.
If anybody is interested in what happens in the political circles, let such person go to the party offices of political parties,” he said.
He urged members of the public to disregard insinuations that he and any other person were planning to cause mayhem in the state.
