A 22-year-old man Afeez Salami, and three other teenagers,
Akanbi (15), Salisu (17) and Ishola (17) (other names withheld), have
been arraigned before an Ikeja Juvenile Court, Lagos, for alleged
murder.
The police said the four accused persons conspired together and stabbed a 17-year-old boy, Nwosor Osita, to death.
It was alleged that Osita was accosted by the accused persons at
about 10:30pm on October 8 on Safisi Street, Alagbado, Lagos State.
Osita was said to have provoked the accused persons for allegedly
putting on a black face cap suspected to be the identity of a cult group
– Black Axe.
According to the charge sheet with NO FCI/JUV/123/12 which was made available to our correspondent on Monday, the four accused persons were each charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit felony and murder.
The charge sheet stated, “That you Salami, Akanbi, Salisu and Ishola
within the Lagos Magisterial District did conspire together to commit
felony to wit murder and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 231 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.”
“That you Salami, Akanbi, Salisu and Ishola did unlawfully kill
Nwosor Osita by stabbing him to death and thereby committed an offence
punishable under Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of
Nigeria, 2011.”
However, the court did not take their plea as the police put up an application for their remand.
Magistrate A.B. Olagbegi-Adelabu who stood in for Magistrate A.A.
Oshoniyi subsequently ordered them remanded in custody on October 29.
She also ordered the police to duplicate the case file and forward it
to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions to enable it to give advice
on their prosecution.
At the resumed hearing on Monday, the accused persons were not
present in court. Oshoniyi then adjourned till March 5 for hearing on
the advice of the DPP.
