Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested 10
persons for allegedly beating up workers of a construction company,
Setraco and damaging their commuter bus.
In a statement made available to LEADERSHIP SUNDAY in Enugu by the
command’s Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu, he said the suspects
were arrested by his men at the Amechi Idodo police division.
Amaraizu stated that the incident took place on the Enugu-Abakilki
Road around Amechi Idodo axis of Enugu state on Thursday at 4:30pm where
some boys under the guise of a youth organisation went to Setraco site
and unleashed mayhem on the workers. He said the hoodlums damaged the
workers’ commuter bus and beat the driver to coma.
“The police were alerted and their prompt intervention saved the
situation from deteriorating. The state police command is trying to
unravel the reason behind the attack with a view to bringing the
culprits to book,” he stated.
