The Enugu State Government has vowed to assist the state Police Command in tracking down killers of the Commissioner of Police in Kwara, Mr Chinwike Asadu.
Gov. Sullivan Chime announced this in Enugu on Monday in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Chukwudi Achife.
Chime described the killing of Asadu in Enugu as shocking and
dastardly, adding that no effort would be spared to fish out the
culprits.
He expressed regrets that Asadu, who was an indigene of the state,
suffered a cruel fate after many years of dedicated service to the
nation.
The governor said that the development was disheartening as Asadu was close to his retirement from service.
“The state will provide all necessary assistance to security agencies
in the country to ensure that the killers of Kwara Commissioner of
Police, Mr Chinwike Asadu, are tracked down and brought to book,’’ he
said.
He extended his condolences to the Inspector General of Police, Mr
Mohammed Abubakar, the family of the deceased and the government
of Kwara.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Asadu was murdered by
unidentified gunmen by 9.45 pm on Saturday at Amorji Nike, in the Enugu
East Local Government Area. (NAN)
