Ajimobi urges Oyo professionals to join politics

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, has advised professionals from the state to return home and participate in the development of the state. The governor made the call on Tuesday at a Jericho Businessmen School programme in Lagos, in honour of five sons of the state, who had distinguished themselves in their chosen careers.
According to the governor, if the professionals  shy away from the state, they will be leaving their affairs and that of the future generations in the hands of people who may tinker with their destinies.
He said, “I have grown thick skin to the machinations of those, who think character assassination would stop us from the path of creating a new Oyo State. That should also be your attitude to serving your people. If we are all afraid of mudslinging and petty lies heaped on us by political adversaries, posterity will not forgive us for failing to act when our actions are needed most”.
Promising to mentor them  politically, the governor said having distinguished themselves in their chosen careers, “the cake for them should be service to their fatherland”.
The governor on the occasion promised to dualise five major roads in the state capital.
He said the government would have done more but for fear of creating major traffic bottleneck in the state.
President of the Club, Alhaji Remi Bello, promised that the honorees and others in the diaspora would heed the governor’s call.
