Three die in Ogun auto crash

Three unidentified persons on Friday died in an auto crash when a pick-up van rammed into a trailer from behind.

The crash occurred around Egbado Junction, Ifo Local Government Area on the Abeokuta-Lagos Expressway.
The Federal Road Safety Corps Unit Commander for Itori, Mr. Fatai Bakare, who confirmed the crash and the number of casualties, said the accident occurred about 7:30 am.
Bakare, however, blamed the accident on over-speeding and recklessness of the driver.
He explained that a Mitsubishi pick-up van marked LAGOS LSD 267 XC lost control due to over-speeding and hit a moving unmarked articulated vehicle from behind.
“Three out of the eight persons involved died on the spot while five others sustained a range of injuries. The driver of the van was so reckless that he could not control his vehicle.
“All the three persons that died were in the van and their bodies had been deposited at Ifo General Hospital.
“After clearing the vehicles off the road, my men kept monitoring situation in the area to forestall traffic build-up,” Bakare said.
