CLO condemns arrest of JAF leaders
By Innocent Anaba LAGOS — Civil Liberties Organisation, CLO, has condemned the arrest and detention of leaders and members of Joint Action Front, JAF, a coalition of civil society organisations in Nigeria, at a peaceful protest to demand for the repeal of Lagos State Traffic Law, recently enacted by the state government.
CLO in a statement by its Executive Director, Mr. Ibuchukwu Ezike, yesterday, expressed shock at the rising tide of intolerance by certain over-zealous security operatives working for corrupt and lawless politicians, who try to criminalise human rights defenders.
He said activists fight to expose their fraudulent practices and gross disdain for respect for rule of law and human rights.
Those arrested were Dr. Dipo Fashina, National Chairman of JAF; Mr. Abiodun Aremu, Secretary of the Coalition; Hassan Taiwo; Usman Oloyede and Segun Oladunmi.
