Igbodo community chases Obi’s wife from palace

By Austin Ogwuda, Asaba COMMOTION broke out yesterday at the palace of the Obi of Igbodo community in Ika North East local government area of Delta State following a mass protest by the community, leading to the sack of the Obi’s wife, whom they complained was  not a native of the community.
There had been a lingering crisis of the purported marriage between the Obi and his wife, who hailed from Ebonyi State. Although, the Obi Ikechukwu Nkeobikwu Osedume I, the Obi of Igbodo had insisted that his Ebonyi-born heartthrob remains his choice as wife , the palace chiefs and a good number of the community mostly women had been kicking against that choice.
The crisis came to a head yesterday, when the Obi who had been hibernating in Asaba, decided to bring in the wife to the palace  Thursday night.
And while sensing danger, he came with a armed security men to ward off any possible danger. However, the security men engaged by him had to ‘surrender’ when scores of protesters marched to the palace to demand the immediate exit of the wife.
Eyewitness told our reporter that “the Obi’s wife was smuggled from the palace by armed soldiers and policemen into safety at the heat of the commotion”.
