Obasanjo is not work for Amosun —Ogun PDP

Olusegun-ObasanjoThe Dipo Odujinrin-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, has berated a financier of the party, Mr. Buruji Kashamu, for accusing former President Olusegun Obasanjo of working for the opposition Action Congress of Nigeria in the state.
Kashamu, a leader in the Bayo Dayo-led faction, had accused Obasanjo of aiding Governor Ibikunle Amosun of the ACN towards winning a second term.
In an interview with SUNDAY PUNCH, Kashamu had said, “What Obasanjo has been doing all this while is to drag the party back so that the ACN can be stronger for Amosun to return as governor for a second term.
“We know the relationship between Obasanjo and Amosun. Obasanjo prefers Amosun to go for a second term.”
The Publicity Secretary of the Odunjinrin-led state executive council loyal to Obasanjo, Mr. Bidemi Osunbiyi, however, told our correspondent that the allegation was a diversionary tactic by Kashamu.
He said, “Does that mean if I am in the Peoples Democratic Party and my brother is in the ACN, I cannot embrace him. Obasanjo is the father of Ogun State. There is nothing like Obasanjo working for Amosun. He (Kashamu) is using that allegation as a cover-up, so that people won’t know that he had taken contract from Amosun and Rauf Aregbesola. It is a cover-up.”
A very senior official of the Ogun State Government, who pleaded anonymity, told our correspondent that both the ACN and the state government should be excluded from the crisis rocking the PDP.
He said, “If they have internal issues, let them handle it. How can I react to someone attacking Obasanjo? We don’t have anything to say about whatever he said. Did he (Kashamu) say anything about the roads we are working on? Did he say anything about our educational policy? Did he say anything about our health programme?
“If he is talking about their party’s internal politics, that is not our issue.”
