Ashafa, Tinubu Present N109m to Michael Otedola College

Oluremi TinubuVice chairman of the Senate Committee on Housing, Lands and Urban Development, Senator Gbenga Ashafa,  and his colleague, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu,  have presented  an intervention fund of N109 million to the management of Michael Otedola College of Primary Education, Epe.
The lawmakers delivered a special intervention approval letter from  the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to the provost of the college, Prof. Olu Akeusola,  in Epe recently.
They also personally donated a sum of N2 million  to boost learning in the institution, noting that they would annually donate the sum to support the college in providing required infrastructural facilities.
Speaking at the presentation, Ashafa explained that the endowment fund contained in the TET Fund’s letter “to build School of Primary Education Studies for the college and a total sum of N109 million was released for this purpose.”
He however explained the rationale behind additional donation of N2 million from his personal purse and that of his colleague, noting that the gesture was to complement the state government’s effort in uplifting the college.
According to him,  the donation can indeed improve learning and teaching in the institution and for awarding prizes to best graduating students in the area of studies to be determined.
The lawmaker said he was particularly impressed by the manner the present leadership of the college had transformed the institution and the level of development that had taken place in the last one and half years he assumed office.
While he assured the institution of their continued support, Ashafa urged the leadership of the college to build on the current achievement without compromising standard in its services to make the college a better institution of learning.
In his response, the provost of the college expressed appreciation to TETFUND for making the fund available. He also thanked the lawmakers who made the presentation and personal donation to help boost learning and teaching in the institution.
He therefore promised to make judicious disbursement of the respective funds, adding that the lawmakers’ gesture was indeed commendable and a clear demonstration of their love for quality education and their commitment for community development.
