Group offers legal assistance to inmates

The Norsemen Club, has offered free legal assistance to inmates of Kuje prisons, Abuja, particularly those serving jail terms that were not in conformity with their crimes.
Head, legal department of the club, Steve Imokhe, made the promise when the club visited the prison to mark its fourth annual convergence in Abuja on Friday.
Imokhe said the club would assist inmates who had spent many years awaiting trial and those that might want to appeal their conviction, but had no money to get legal representation.
He said, “We have seen the conditions of the inmates, the circumstances under which some of them were convicted and we are ready to assist them free of charge.
“The legal department of the club will assist in getting a judicial review of some of the convictions.”
The National President of the club, Mr. Tony Eteng, said the goals of his association were to foster peace, love and harmony among the members and the nation at large.
