Gov Aliyu, A Detribalised Nigerian – Alaafin


babangida aliyuThe Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi 111, has described Niger State governor, Muaz’u  Babangida Aliyu as a detribalised Nigerian who is doing everything to promote national unity.
Oba Adeyemi made the disclosure in Minna, Niger State, when he attended the wedding ceremony of the governor’s two daughters.
The royal father, who attended the ceremony in a chartered flight, was accompanied by all members of his traditional cabinet, the Oyomesi and some traditional rulers from Oyo State.
At the Minna International Airport, the Alaafin was received by members of Yoruba community in Minna, led by Chief Sabitu Amuda, the Oba Yoruba in Minna, members of the community and an army of drummers and singers.
Also at the airport to receive the Oyo paramount ruler were the Secretary to the Niger State Government, Mr Daniel Shashere, the Chief of Staff, Prof Muhammed Yahaya,  the Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Hassan Abdullahi, the  governor’s Special Assistant on Inter-Community Relations, Mr Ogunsola Ajayi among others.
The Alaafin who was the focus of all eyes at the occasion, used the event to showcase the rich Yoruba culture.
Decked in expensive native attire, with his traditional cap and walking stick, the Alaafin left no one in doubt about his deep sense of history, culture and the tradition of his people.
He spoke eloquently about the cultural bond between the Yoruba and the Niger State people, urging Nigerians to embrace peace so that the nation could witness development.
He also prayed for the governor’s daughters who were given out in marriage. The brides were Dr Jamilat Babangida Aliyu and Dr Farida Babangida Aliyu.
