‘Stop Politicising Boko Haram’

A group of Christian Youths yesterday told President Goodluck Jonathan to stop the politicisation of the Boko Haram menace in the interest of the Nigerian State.
The Youth under the umbrella of Christian Youths Network in a communiqué made available to LEADERSHIP after its meeting in Kaduna said “we condemn in totality, the politicisation of the Boko Haram issue where the government is leaving realities to point accusing fingers at innocent people who are passive as political opponent. This kind of gesture only portrays the highest level of insensitivity and lack of focus.”
The communiqué, signed by the group’s National President, Engr. Amos Anendah also tasked the federal government to be proactive on the issue of security in Nigeria.
“Nigerians by all law required to live freely everywhere they find themselves. We condemn, the insincerity being displayed by the federal government in the handling of the Boko Haram menace; the President should name those who he earlier said are in his government and are deeply involved in the activities of the sect,” the communiqué read.
According to the Christian Youths, “Nigerian youths should not be deceived by some retrogressive politicians who use religion as a yardstick for choosing their leaders in 2015. They should only use credibility in deciding who governs them as corruption is our major problem and those who are capable of tackling it are well-known by all Nigerians. Such people should be supported to lead regardless of their faith.”
They also urged the National Assembly to do whatever was possible to reform the local government administration in Nigeria to stop the mess going on.
“The federal government should take proactive measure in this new year to create more opportunities for Nigerians so as to reduce youth restiveness,” they added.
