TASCE matriculates 900 students

Nigerian students have been advised to take vocational training serious as it remains the antidote to the current perennial unemployment challenges in the country. The advice was given by the Provost of the Tai Solarin College of Education, TASCE, Omu-Ijebu, Ogun State, Dr. Abiodun Ojo during the matriculation of the new students into the Nigeria Certificate in Education, NCE programmes for the 2012/2013 academic session.
Ojo argued that the leaders should not be blamed solely for the problems in the country. In his view, the followers have also contributed in no small measure to the decadence of the nation as well as tendencies of negative behaviours of the leader.
According to him,”no sooner thatna leader emerges either at executive, or legislative cadre, the enormous demands placed on him by followership are usually beyond what his legitimate earnings could accommodate”. Some followers also condemn leaders who at the end of their tenure in political office, failed to amass wealth or properties.
The Provost charged the new intakes to shun any act that would jeopardize their studies noting that cultism, which is an albatross in the higher institutions of learning is an avenue to self-destruction and bleak future.
He enjoined the new intakes to disassociate themselves from the Termite club and join the Bee club, saying,”the termite destroys to the point of collapse while the patient bee tarries for trees to flower, pick the pollen grains to produce the honey at the same time leaving the tree alive”.
The College matriculated over 900 students into various courses for the NCE programmes for the 2012/2013 academic session.
The programme was well attended by all the College Academic Board members, parents, guardians and guests of the matriculating students.
