The paramount ruler of the Takad chiefdom, His Royal Highness
Tobias Nkom Wada (Agwan Takad 1) in Kaura local government area of
Kaduna State, who is presently a refugee, has lamented that the Fulanis
have taken over their ancestral homes where they have lived for
centuries.
This is just as he disclosed that a mass burial for 28 dead persons mainly women
and children were conducted Tuesday, following the attack on five
villages (Kirim, Tangang, Zangang, Zilan and Mafan) in his chiefdom by
unknown gunmen on Saturday.
The paramount ruler also disclosed that over 200 houses, primary schools, churches and his palace were completely razed.
The Agwan Takad 1 disclosed this when he received the House of
Representatives members from the five federal constituencies which make
up the southern Kaduna senatorial district in his new abode in Tachire
village.
He said, “On Saturday 30th March at about 2:00pm, the Fulanis
descended on my people at the Atakad hills, burned churches and primary
schools, killed innocent people and over three of my communities have
been displaced.
“My concern now is how to get my people back to their homes because
the Fulanis have taken over our ancestral homes where we have lived for
years,” he said.
But in a swift reaction to the allegation, the national president of
the Miyetti Allah association, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi said such
allegation cannot be substantiated.
According to him, “I do not want to join issues with the paramount
ruler because he is somebody I respect so much, but the truth of the
matter is that nobody can say of certainty that some people have taken
over their area.
“Secondly, nobody can say that it is the Fulani people that have
taken over the area that is if at all the place has been taken over.
But what we do know is that last week, a corpse was found in the bush
and in reaction to that people targeted nomadic settlement, attacked
and killed nomadic people and their animals.
“If after that some people attack them I can not say but what I do
know is that they attacked our people, innocent people who do not know
anything about the man that was found dead,” he stressed.
